URSPRUNG NAP23 Banner

György Ligeti, one of the most influential composers of the 20th century, would have turned 100 years in 2023. This year, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie is therefore illuminating the work of the jubilarian from a variety of perspectives. During the 1822-New Year's Concert, the traditional start to the year of the orchestra in the Alte Oper Frankfurt, composers and works are on the programme in addition to Ligeti's Concerto Românesc, which pose the question of our European musical roots: Zoltán Kodály, Luciano Berio and Béla Bartók also made traditional folk songs and dances suitable for the salon or concert hall.

The traditional start of the year at the 1822-New Year's Concert at the Alte Oper Frankfurt will be expanded to include a second concert at the BASF Feierabendhaus in Ludwigshafen from 2023.
