Under the motto SPACETIME, musicians from the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, the Ensemble Modern and the International Ensemble Modern Academy will join forces to perform Gérard Grisey's full-length cycle Les Espaces Acoustiques. In this composition, which is considered a key work of French spectralism, Grisey literally spans "acoustic spaces": The first movement is played by a solo viola, in the second movement the instrumentation expands to a septet. This is followed by an 18-piece ensemble and a chamber orchestra with 33 participants, until finally the last two movements comprise the full symphonic orchestra.
